Re: Install WordPress from WordPress.org on Synology
Step one is connecting to the MariaDB database. The critical error may mean php is not configured properly, provided you installed MariaDB. The MySQL module must be enabled so WordPress can connect. You can verify the module is loaded by running phpinfo.php. You can create the file yourself or downl...

Re: Install TNG on a Synology NAS
Glad you solved the issues! For a time I manually set permissions on a Synology NAS. Then I found you can use File Station to unzip files which sets permissions automatically. If you are placing TNG in a sub-folder, create the folder using File Station. Then copy or move the zip to the NAS folder wh...

Re: Install TNG on a Synology NAS
This is an issue I've never seen. For imports you should use the GEDCOM standard 5.5 format. I've imported GEDCOM files into TNG well over 500 times, over the years, and never had a problem like you describe. Imports have nothing to do with TNG users as user information is stored in the tng_users ta...

Re: Install TNG on a Synology NAS
The way TNG connects to the MariaDB database is straight forward on a Synology. You only need to populate $database_host, $database_name, $database_username and $database_password. The remaining items $database_port and $database_socket are not needed for TNG. Synology has two DB ports available dep...

Re: Install TNG on a Synology NAS
TNG version 12.3 will not run on php 5.6. While Synology requires php 5.6 for some applications , it is no longer supported. (The recent upgrade for DSM no longer requires php 5.6) You can install multiple versions of php and select which version web station loads. Install php 7.2 or 7.3 and let me ...

Re: Install WordPress from WordPress.org on Synology
So you have it working? I have two NAS servers and I don't remember setting the DNS manually, but that was a few years ago and I could be mistaken. I believe, in my case, the NAS obtained the DNS address automatically. Getting the address automatically could depend on the ISP. However, I did manuall...

Re: Install WordPress from WordPress.org on Synology
Was nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn a local or WAN address? Additionally unless you are using a virtual host, "www.mydomain.com/wp-admin" will throw an error because wp-admin is not in the web folder. The database, in itself, does not have anything to do with web access. However, entries in database table...

Re: Set up a Website on your Synology Server
You must assign read/write permissions for the http user. Otherwise no one can access the folder from the internet. Use File Station to view the web folder, then right click on web1 and select properties. Click the permissions tab and make sure the http user has read/write permission. If they do not...

Re: Set up a Website on your Synology Server
Using DSM, check the permissions on the web1 and/or web2 folders. the http user needs read/write permission. If permissions are correct make sure you have php configured and the entries are correct for the Virtual Host. The host should be similar to the following: /web_images/Synology/webstation/vh-...

Re: Install WordPress from WordPress.org on Synology
Do not change phpMyAdmin permissions. Exposing that program to the WAN is a bad idea that would temp any would be hacker. When trouble-shooting errors set php to display errors. Once you have everything working, you can turn it off again. To enable this feature simply check the " Enable display...
